You’ve probably noticed that it’s not your mother’s publishing world out there anymore. Publishing success today REQUIRES an education that covers both the traditional basics of good writing and the new technologies for print, digital and audio publishing.

Just jumping in and rushing to self-publish your work with Print on Demand or digitally on Kindle, iPad or Nook won’t stand a chance of success without a solid understanding of basic publishing tenets. Conversely, holding on tight to the the old traditional publishing world rules can hold you back and even sabotage your success if you don’t know how to couple that knowledge with the new social media.

4Ps University provides the tools, resources and publishing education for success in the current market. You will learn how to leverage the 4Ps (Plan, Produce, Publish, Promote) and combine the best strategies of both worlds.

Class Description & Schedule

4Ps to Publishing Success University is a unique combination of home study course coupled with weekly live Q&A sessions.

Weekly Class: Your 4Ps lessons (audio recording, written learning guide & exercises) will be delivered via email every Tuesday for 10 weeks from September 14 through November 16. Learn at your own time convenience and pace.

Weekly Q&A: 60 minutes of live Q&A with your professor (Shelley Lieber) every Monday from September 20 to November 15 from 4:00pm to 5:00pm ET. Questions can be emailed in advance and Q&A sessions will be recorded and audios available to class members within 24 hours.

Weeks 4–5: Produce

Develop your personal authentic voice
Connect with your readers
Communicate your message effectively and honestly
Create alluring hooks for your fiction or nonfiction book
Create a page-turner to maintain reader interest
Turn your manuscript into print, ebook, audio book, podcasts and more
Avoid common editorial gaffes and errors
Create compelling covers

Weeks 6–7: Publish

Class Highlights: You will learn how to:

Create a winning nonfiction book proposal
Write an effective novel synopsis
Prepare a submission package
Write an irresistible query letter
Find and approach agents and editors
Select a POD publisher
Ask the right questions to avoid rip-offs and scams
Self-publish on your own and skip the middle man (less cost, more profit)

Weeks 8–9: Promote

Build a platform
Attract an audience, agent or publisher
Create real and virtual media kits
Write an effective media release
Get free publicity
Use free and low-cost Internet resources to promote your work
Use email effectively and legitimately
Create a blog that attracts readers
Publish a newsletter that turns readers into customers
Find niche markets
Make social networking a productive use of time

Shelley Lieber is a publishing visionary and strategist.

A leading authority on how to succeed in the new publishing environment, she teaches authors how to attract readers by combining traditional strategies, social media and the power of community.

Shelley is the author of 4Ps to Publishing Success, founder of VIP Authors, host of VIP Author Talks, and publisher at VIP Book Publishing (Visual Impressions Publishing). It is her mission to help writers get the information and resources they need to get published. She empowers authors with the skills and knowledge necessary to bring their messages to their target audiences.

Shelley founded and led the South Florida Association of Women Writers, Women’s Writing Room Collective and 4Ps to Publishing Success Workshops.
